About the event
Adolescence is a turbulent time, and when you add type 1 diabetes into the mix, the challenges can feel overwhelming for both teens and their parents. Brace for Impact is an evening designed to educate, empower, and support parents of teens with type 1 as they navigate this intense chapter of life.
Led by Natalia Hazell, a registered psychologist who works exclusively with families impacted by type 1, and Bec Ritchie, a credentialled diabetes educator who’s lived with type 1 since the age of two, this event explores the emotional, physical, and relational shifts that come with the teen years.
Together, they’ll unpack:
The stress of puberty and diabetes
The pressure of chasing perfect numbers
Diabetes burnout - for both teens and parents
How to shift from daily parent-teen conflict, to connection
You’ll walk away with practical tools for setting boundaries, having more effective conversations, and keeping your relationship strong, even when the CGM graph looks like a rollercoaster. The presentation will be followed by a live Q&A, where you can ask your most pressing questions and they'll be answered by Nat, Bec, and two parents from the type 1 community who have been through it all, and it made it out the other side.
You don’t have to figure this out on your own. Brace for Impact will leave you better equipped to parent through the chaos.
This is an online event, so you can join us no matter where you are.
You can select whether you will attend online or in person when you complete the registration form.
