Jemma’s appointment is not only professionally aligned, but deeply personal. Her younger brother was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes when she was a teenager, an experience that sparked a lifelong desire to improve the support available for those affected by the condition.

“Since my brother’s diagnosis, I’ve wanted to do more to make life better for people living with type 1 diabetes. I’m honoured to lead the Family Centre as it continues to grow and evolve, and I’m excited to work alongside this passionate team to help even more people across the country.”
Known for her approachable leadership style and deep commitment to community, Jemma is eager to connect with families, clinicians, and stakeholders to amplify the Centre’s reach and impact. Her focus will be on strengthening national collaborations, scaling innovative services, and ensuring that no person living with type 1 diabetes ever feels alone in their journey.
Outside of work, Jemma is a proud mum to two teenage sons, an avid music lover, and a keen community volunteer. Her personal and professional lives are grounded in empathy, energy, and a fierce belief in the power of people to drive change, making her an ideal leader for the next chapter of the Family Centre’s story.
