At the Type 1 Diabetes Family Centre, we offer medication review services in person and via telehealth.

Meera Ruparelia

Meera is a registered pharmacist with over 12 years of clinical experience. Meera decided to further her education and become a diabetes educator when her husband was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. She is particularly passionate about the helping people with type 1 safely manage their diabetes and non-diabetes related medications, as well as the use of technology to make blood glucose management easier. 

 

Meera speaks English, Gujarati and Hindi.

  • Demystifying your medications, providing practical medication advice and address any burning questions or concerns you may have with the medications you have been prescribed. 

  • Helping identify any drug or food interactions you might need to be aware of

  • Supplement reviews; helping you determine IF you really need those expensive supplements and highlighting any potential supplement-drug interactions.

  • Assessing the appropriateness of your medicines with regard to recent blood test results or other conditions you may have

  • Understanding new medicines that might be hitting the market

  • Providing an up-to-date medicines list so all of your health care practitioners know exactly what you are taking

  • Discussing alternative insulin and technology options for better or easier diabetes management

  • Helping to manage hypo's
