Telethon Community Cinemas

We are delighted to announce that the Type 1 Diabetes Family Centre has been nominated as a charity beneficiary for the upcoming 2020/2021 Telethon Community Cinemas season. This is a terrific fundraising opportunity for our type 1 tribe, and an opportunity for you to give back by volunteering!

We’d be thrilled if you would consider volunteering your time, skills and talent to support the success of the iconic Telethon Community Cinemas in its 20th year. Volunteering is a fun and easy way to donate your time to help children with type 1 and their families, right here in WA.

Why volunteer?

Just look at this list of benefits:

  • Help raise vital funds for the Type 1 Diabetes Family Centre.

  • At the end of each shift, you will receive a free pass to the cinema!

  • Make friends, meet new people.

  • Learn new skills, gain work experience.

  • Help build community spirit.

  • It *may* cancel out the bad things you have done this year, karmically speaking!

Details

  • Telethon Community Cinemas ask that you help one night per fortnight. That's only ten nights over the five month season. When you work 10+ shifts, your hours are converted into donations to the Family Centre. So, the more shifts you volunteer – the more funds that are donated to the Family Centre!

  • Four great locations to choose from: Burswood, Bassendean, Murdoch, and ECU Joondalup Pines

  • Telethon Community Cinemas ask that you arrive between 5.45pm and 6pm for each shift

  • The season starts on 22 October 2020

  • Everyone working at the screenings is a volunteer. They sell raffle tickets, hire out bean bag lounges, cook snags, make coffee, help patrons, and work in the bar and box office. As a volunteer, your duties will vary with each shift.

  • No experience is needed – Telethon Community Cinemas will teach you everything you need to know.

  • You must be 16+ to volunteer. People aged 16-17 will need a parent or guardian's consent.

  • RSA trained volunteers needed!
